I came across Barkshire Dog Trading Co while searching the web for custom pet paintings. I wanted to have our two cats painted as a Christmas gift for my wife. I have two rescue Staffies and Eric loved Atlas upon meeting her at an outdoor market. When I saw other paintings he had completed, I was fascinated at his capture of light, and how the subjects he paints seem luminously alive. While finding our summer refuge in the Berkshires this year we were fortunate to come across Eric Lake at the Lenox Market. His pet portraits immediately caught our eye and we commissioned a portrait of Maya, our 2 year old Australian Labradoodle. When we talked with Eric and told him how Maya helped to fill our lives with love and affection since the passing of our son a year earlier, we knew it caught Eric’s heart.
